WOMAN WITH A HAUNTED PAST

Banished to Ireland by King John to wed a man she despises, Alianor discovers her destiny rests with a handsome Irish rebel who captures her for ransom but ends up stealing her heart. Liam’s touch tells her that, wrong as it is, their hearts are joined by fire and fate.

MAN WITH A MYSTERIOUS DESTINY

The Emerald Prince prophecy means little to Liam, an Irish outlaw struggling to stay alive. Only Alianor, his lovely English rose, seems to bring him a measure of peace. Her love brings both ecstasy and despair, as he seeks to save his people from the wrath of a vengeful king.

MEDIEVAL LOVERS FIGHTING FATE

Liam and Alianor are left with a perilous choice … to forget one another amidst the turmoil and treachery of the medieval Crown, or risk everything for the chance at love.

If you like historical romances, this is the book for you. It is action packed and totally absorbing. The heroine has just been widowed from an older man, one of the king's knights, that she admired and loved. Within days, she has been promised by the English king, John, to a knight known for his cruelty, in return for his loyalty and help in subjugating Ireland. On the journey to her wedding and new home, she is kidnapped by an Irish outlaw and her adventures continue.

Brit Darby has great writing skills and the book flows well. The heroine is maybe a bit bigger than life and makes some dumb decisions. For example, trusting King John, who already has demonstrated his total untrustworthness and her eagerness to sacrifice herself for those she loves. Never the less, it is an enjoyable book that is well worth reading.

Emerald Prince edition by Brit Darby Fela Dawson Scott Patricia McAllister Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was one of the most enjoyable books I've read lately. A beautiful story with deep historical backing. I loved it.
I truly enjoyed this novel. The story kept me on my toes, not wanting to put it down. My heart went out to both characters, and their difficulties in accepting the cards they were dealt. If you love great, historical romances, you will enjoy the story of the Emerald Prince.
I really enjoyed this story of Liam and Alianor. The love was great & self sacrificing. The character development from the main characters right down to the sub characters was amazing. This book kept my attention. This is my first from these authors & I recommend this book.
I got no further than chapter sixteen when I had to give up. This just dragged on and on, rehashing what had gone before.

We have the usual beautiful, spirited and warm-hearted heroine. I wonder why it is that a heroine cannot just look like an every day sort of woman? She has to have an exotic beauty. What if she were merely passable or even plain? What? No story in that?

The hero is almost as exotic looking -- handsome of course -- and above reproach. An honorable thief.

The heroine's husband had died and she was summoned back to court. The king is the usual slimy fellow who lusts after her. Her refusal to attend him in his bed winds up with her being sent off to marry a fellow reputed to be even more slimy and perversive. Happily she is robbed and kidnapped to be held for ransom before reaching her wedding.

The couple are attracted to each other immediately -- how could two such good looking people not fall in lust upon seeing each other? They are enemies so that sexual attraction just builds. There is the usual jealous female back in the village who makes trouble. Everyone but her loves the heroine almost on sight.

I forgot to mention the deceased husband was an old fellow who had suffered a wound -- the sort of which kept him from attending to his full duties as a husband. So the heroine is still a virgin.

There are plenty of characters to wreak havoc, and I am sure at least some did. I didn't read far enough to find out.
I thought this book had a good story line. But it seemed to drag on a little too long for my taste. Then it kind of crash landed into the ending. I liked the strong female character, but felt that while the male lead character was supposedly strong, he made dumb decisions. His decisions made other things happen and the story dragged on. I don't think the book was bad. It just kind of made me wish it would end already.
This was a very nice story, but the fantasy aspect isn't really what I like. Aside from that, I thought it was well written and I especially liked how strong the h was. She had the spunk and determination to stand up to strong, powerful, nasty men, even a king, but yet she was so soft and loving when it came to the H and many others.

If you are a fan of fantasy, this is probably a 4 or 5 star read.
This was a very well thought out, well written book. The historical research was right on and the characters were believable. The authors made you feel as though you were there with Alainor and Liam through their many trials and tribulations. There were some great secondary characters that added so much to the story.

I nearly gave it four stars because of the one time I felt it was being drawn out too long but decided any book that can keep me engaged and interested with adventure, suspense and romance gets five stars.

The whole Emerald Prince legend was explained very nicely and believable, even for those of us who are skeptical. I especially liked the way Nora and Queen Isabella were portrayed strong women with courage during a time when that was completely unacceptable.
