I bought this book for myself to gain some perspective from a male point of view. I thought it was amazing (read the entire thing in a couple hours) and gave it to my hubby to read. The points Tony makes opened up my hubby's eyes to things that he related to and gave him a better outlook on things and the capability to understand my position and what he needs to do to improve himself for me. This book was life changing for me. Many times we don't realize how we are influenced and how that influence impacts our lives. This book gave the reader a way to objectively look at the way you see love.
I read Mrs. Right first then this book. Both are written well. This book inspires you to believe in real love and to understand that having boundaries is an important part of love. It also expresses the importance of aspiring to be your best in and out of a relationship. This book is a good read.
This book is amazing it opened my heart up more and help me understand love. I would recommend this book to any willing to help themselves grow as a person or couple. Thank you Mr Gaskins for sharing in your life expectancies into teaching others. I myself believe in the same values as you do. This reassures me that my beliefs are not superficial that is also why I choose this rating. I did not live the same life as you but in the end the teachings and the values learned through God amounted to the same beliefs as myself.
I really enjoyed this book! The author, Tony A. Gaskin Jr., is a man that I truly respect and admire. His honesty, transparency, and wisdom are why millions worldwide have made him their life coach. It was so refreshing to discover that he and I share the same views on love...This is a quick, easy read, that I finished in a matter of 8 hours. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to understand and obtain "Real Love".
I really enjoyed hearing the background of how Tony and his wife got to where they are today. It's so true that we unknowingly absorb everything we see growing up. Tony made a great point of saying healthy relationships 101 should be taught right along with sex ed. Our society is very reactive in this instead of proactive. Overall, a great read. I finished it in a couple of hours and was left wanting more.
Two of the most important points I learned were 1) when you value yourself you won't maintain status quo and prefer to stand out from everyone else; 2) that a cheater has to NOT want to cheat and COMMIT to doing the right thing to those (SO, children) they love. I totally agree that COMMUNICATION is soooo important in all relationships; business, personal, family, love. Moreover, I think communication may supersede trust in that folks may have suspicions in a love relationship, however, if they're not verbally airing out feelings and thoughts and getting receptiveness...there will STILL be a breakdown in the relationship.
This book was raw and uncut in my opinion. It was a reality show turned love story written in a book. If i can add anything to the book or to future readers..please note IF GOD DID IT FOR THEM HE WILL DO IT FOR YOU!!! be obedient in your calling, let GOD use you even it makes you uncomfortable, be of service, and never ever give up on LOVE...it’s the greatest!!!
